Local Media Company Teaches Youth How To Tell Their Own Stories Through Podcasting

Milwaukee Wis. ⎯ Brilliant Voices is a free audio program on a mission to improve the lives of Black and Brown youth by providing them with the skillset to create their own media company through podcasting.

“Their voices matter. Their stories matter. I just want to be able to help them control their narratives before someone else does,” said Mwanje Thompson, founder of Brilliant Voices, an audio program presented by Audio Moguls Media. “We know the false narratives about our Black and Brown youth. It’s time to let them speak on their terms. I just want to give them a mic.”

There are a few programs for Black and Brown youth to enter the media industry. Brilliant Voices will teach students how to create, record, distribute and monetize their podcasts to kick start a career in audio production, screenwriting, broadcasting, or media development. The program aims to help students learn foundational entrepreneurship and technology skills by exposing them to real-world experiences and applications.

Brilliant Voices is hosting three sessions during the summer. July 2nd focus was on podcasting, July 9th focus will be on entrepreneurship, and July 16th focus will be  Web 3 technology. Parents can register their children using the link here.
